Transfer decisionHoldImmediate

FPL Salah currently prefers including Erling Haaland, despite uncertainty over his early-season minutes, because starting a season without his explosive potential feels risky.

Reasoning: He says Haaland remains in his current team but acknowledges the Community Shield substitution has created uncertainty and that betting against Haaland at the start of the season is difficult.

Players/teams: Erling Haaland (Subject)

my current team does still have Holland... there is a legitimate concern regarding Holland and his minutes... to bet against him at the start of the season is tough

A no-Haaland draft is a viable short-term strategy because Haaland may receive limited minutes in the first two matches and managers can use a Free Hit or Wildcard around Gameweek 3.

Reasoning: He considers an early non-Haaland approach reasonable if Haaland could play around 65 and 75 minutes in the opening matches, with a planned chip strategy reducing the risk of going without him.

Players/teams: Erling Haaland (Subject)

going without him for two weeks... isn't as scary... it's very reasonable to go with no Harland and build that super team that you can without him

Value marketSellShort

Haaland's uncertain minutes make him poor value in isolation at £15.5m compared with the squad that can be built by distributing his funds.

Reasoning: The discussion states that predicted points have fallen because of expected minutes and that selling Haaland allows upgrades elsewhere, including defensive and midfield improvements.

Players/teams: Erling Haaland (Subject)

with Harland's minutes kind of being slashed, he becomes... 15.5 million becomes such a bad value option in isolation... the recommendation is to sell Harland

Role team contextBuyShort

Pascal Groß is viewed as a strong Gameweek 1 midfield pick because he is expected to have penalties, takes set pieces, and has a good opening fixture.

Reasoning: FPL Salah describes Groß as a reliable points source and expresses confidence in his penalty role following Danny Welbeck's absence.

Players/teams: Pascal Groß (Subject)

I'm very confident he's going to be on penalties... he's got all the set pieces... I've got a good fixture to start the season with as well

Christopher Ajer is a useful £4.5m short- to medium-term defensive punt while Sepp van den Berg is injured, particularly because of his defensive-contribution potential and rotation with Groß.

Reasoning: He highlights Ajer's expected central-defender role, defensive-contribution profile, low price, and specific Gameweek 2 rotation opportunity, while noting the pick is temporary until van den Berg returns.

Players/teams: Pascal Groß (Rotation partner), Christopher Ajer (Subject), Sepp van den Berg (Minutes threat)

he's really good at defcon... he's only 4.5 million and he rotates well... really good until Vanderberg is back... these kind of short to medium-term picks are totally fine

Play from 4:09 · 5 seconds before evidence ↗

Minutes availabilityAvoidImmediate

Christian Nørgaard should not be considered for the current draft because he has not started any preseason friendlies.

Reasoning: Although Nørgaard previously offered good rotation with Groß, FPL Salah says the lack of preseason starts means he is no longer an option.

Players/teams: Pascal Groß (Rotation partner), Christian Nørgaard (Subject)

Norard was such a good pick because he rotates so well with Pascal Cross... but he's not started any of the preseason friendly games... he's just not an option now

The Brighton midfielder identified as Gomez should be monitored for injury news, with an upgrade to a £5.5m midfielder considered if he is unavailable.

Reasoning: He says Gomez limped off in a friendly and that Brighton's Europa League qualifier should provide further information before the deadline.

Players/teams: Simon Adingra (Subject), Brighton & Hove Albion (Team context)

Gomez... limped off in the friendly yesterday... we will get more news on Gomez... if he's injured then I'll probably look to upgrade that position to... some 5.5 million midfielder

Play from 5:53 · 5 seconds before evidence ↗

Value marketBuyShort

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is considered one of the best-value players in the game because he is on penalties and expected to start for Leeds.

Reasoning: FPL Salah cites the £6.0m price, penalty responsibility, expected starting role, and current lack of another Leeds centre-forward signing.

Players/teams: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Subject), Leeds United (Team context)

Calbert Lew 6 million on penalties... nailed to start as things stand... two of the best value players in the game

Play from 12:40 · 5 seconds before evidence ↗

Role team contextBuyShort

João Pedro is currently viewed as Chelsea's main attacking forward and therefore a strong-value option.

Reasoning: He is named alongside Calvert-Lewin as one of the two best-value players, with João Pedro described as Chelsea's main man.

Players/teams: João Pedro (Subject), Chelsea (Team context)

J Pedro's looking like the main man for Chelsea right now

Play from 13:03 · 5 seconds before evidence ↗

CaptaincyCaptainImmediate

Bruno Fernandes is preferred as the Gameweek 1 captain over Haaland, and potentially for Gameweek 2 as well.

Reasoning: FPL Salah agrees that the predicted-points comparison should prompt a reassessment and says Bruno would probably be the better captaincy option.

Players/teams: Bruno Fernandes (Subject), Erling Haaland (Alternative)

you would probably see Bruno as the better captaincy... If you're going to captain Bruno in game one and possibly game two as well

Play from 13:14 · 5 seconds before evidence ↗

Chips wildcardHoldShort

Owning Haaland without captaining him can preserve flexibility by avoiding an early Wildcard or Free Hit around Gameweek 3.

Reasoning: FPL Salah says a Haaland team can save both chips in the short run, even if Bruno is the captain instead.

Players/teams: Erling Haaland (Subject)

going with the Harland team... does allow you to kind of save your wild card and free hit for game three... possibly two chips in the short run

Play from 14:18 · 5 seconds before evidence ↗

Transfer decisionWatchImmediate

FPL Salah's final Haaland decision is close, with his current split at approximately 55% for Haaland and 45% against, although reviewing model-driven transfers moved him further toward a no-Haaland team.

Reasoning: He explicitly gives the 55/45 split and then says the discussion and predicted-point comparison are pushing him toward the non-Haaland alternative.

Players/teams: Erling Haaland (Decision subject)

It's probably like something 55 45. It's that close... 55 on Holland... it's pushing me more towards a New Holland team
